Spotify opens platform, music can integrate with 3rd Party apps

Spotify is today rolling out new features at its “New Direction” event in New York that will let third-party developers plug into the streaming service’s music platform. CEO Daniel Ek took to the stage to announce the first generation of apps, with partners like RollingStone, last.fm, Billboard, Pitchfork, The Guardian, and more. Jann Wenner ofRolling Stone explained that the magazine and artists will be creating and curating playlists within the service. The platform will be available to developers, who will be able to build HTML5 apps on top of the music service.
